Missions

Your subscription sends people.

Most church software exists to return money to investors. Shepherdly exists to send it somewhere else. The profit Shepherdly makes funds missions, ministry and missionaries.

That is not a marketing line bolted onto a business that would have existed anyway. It is the reason the business exists. It is also why the pricing is what it is: we charge less than the alternatives because we are not trying to build a large company, we are trying to fund people who go.

What that pays for

  • Missionaries. Support for people already sent, so they can stay longer and spend less of their time raising money.
  • People on the payroll. As Shepherdly grows, the intention is to employ missionaries and ministry workers directly rather than only writing cheques. Paid work, not a grant that runs out.
  • Missions and ministry we partner with. Given through people and organisations already doing the work rather than around them, most often local churches, and as we grow, other partners alongside them.

How you will know

A claim about giving is worth nothing without an account of it, and plenty of companies have made this claim and never mentioned it again.

So we will publish what was given, on this page, and we will keep publishing it when the number is small or the year was bad. If this page ever goes quiet, that is your answer.

We are not going to name every person and project. Some of this work happens in places where being named is a risk, and the people doing it did not ask to become our marketing.

Shepherdly is a for-profit company today, not a registered charity, and we are not going to call ourselves something we are not. Giving is a commitment we hold ourselves to and publish, not a tax status.

And your giving is still yours

Worth being plain about, because the two are easy to confuse. None of this comes out of what your congregation gives. Donations go straight from your donor to your church’s own Stripe account, and Shepherdly never takes a percentage of them and never holds them.

What funds missions is the subscription your church pays for the software. Nothing else.

“How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent?” Romans 10:14-15
